The name Awana is an acronym that stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed. It is taken from the Bible in
II Tomoty 2:15 which reads: “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth.” (KJV)
Awana at Grace E Free Church is staffed with trained volunteer leaders who are church members. Each is chosen for their commitment to Jesus Christ and their love for children. These men and women are concerned about each young person and spend many hours training and in preparation for this ministry. We started our program before 1995 and it’s still going strong thanks to God’s blessings.
Cubbies - Lots of fun and an introduction to God’s work for preschoolers. Starting at age 3 (if potty trained) to pre-kindergarten. Cubbies encourages these little ones to begin to make scripture a part of their lives through parent-child activities.
Sparkies - Friendship building and the gospel message for K-2nd graders. Sparks teaches children about Jesus through games and introduces small peer-group interaction.
TNT - Evangelism and discipleship for 3rd-6th graders. T & T leads children into a deeper relationship with God and teaches them to reach out to other through mission projects.
Awana clubs are loaded with exciting activities.
It is in the church that our children find a whole community of adults who love them, who have a deep concern for them, and who are eager to see them come to faith and grow in godly character. This “village” is not here just to keep them in line when they get unruly, but to experience the joy of seeing them grow up in God and grow up for God. Author unknown.
We thank the parents for allowing us to be their child’s village.
Our club meets at 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. each Wednesday nights. Starting 09/16/26 and until 04/14/2027.
We will take a Thanksgiving break 11/25/26 and Christmas Break on 12/23/2026 and 12/30/2026.
